Between the Battles is a collection of 40 framed vintage photographs. The majority are large format vintage albumen prints with an example of stereocards, carte de visites and tintypes.

Included are original portraits of Presidents; Abraham Lincoln, and Jefferson Davis, Generals; Grant and Lee, photographic documentation of what camp life was like and several major landmarks.

The American Civil War was among the first wars to be extensively photographed. Between the Battles is a collection of rare vintage photographs that recorded a moment in time during the greatest struggle ever fought on US soil. Representing not only the soldiers who fought but also the early pioneers of the art of photography such as Brady, O'Sullivan and Gardner. Through their endeavors survive a visual record that has in many instances, remained unseen for many years.

Now is an opportunity to view a visual legacy left by some of the first photojournalists as well as an opportunity to truly see what the Civil War was really like.
